Creating specialized networks designed for specific services simplifies the deployment of new applications requiring features such as security, mobility or Quality-of-Service. We claim that designing multiple networks to provide different services is easier than designing a unique network to handle all the different services at the same time.

For some tests, scaling multiple VMs has affected fairness, which was shown by the increasing variance in the results as the number of VMs would increase. It is also noticeable that except for the hard drive test, concentrating all the vCPUs in one physical core has considerably decreased VMs’ performance. Except for the memory tests, there were no noticeable differences between the performance of Xen Default scheme and the one physical core for each VM vCPU scheme showing that CPU cache preservation was not a major issue for the tasks we executed.
