We have gifts of the Spirit, our natural talents, and the fruits of the Spirit to aid us in our quests. But just like superheroes, we must choose whether we will use these gifts and abilities to do good deeds or whether we will allow them to go unused. Some are younger, but they’ve still got their collections. They still reminisce about individual stories. I had one person tell me that one of the Hulk issues actually saved their life. So it’s very difÀcult to know how to respond to something like that, especially when working in the business where you have your own family and you have your own interests and you have deadlines and the check is paying for the mortgage and the food.

Because we didn’t pay that much attention to what we were doing because we were all meeting deadlines. 34 Introduction 15 Trimpe went on to make clear that, as far as he was concerned, there was no conscious intent to inspire readers or to impose certain moral values on them. He simply wanted to entertain them. At the same time, he recognized that his values, and those of the writers with whom he worked, inÁuenced the way they told their stories, which, in turn, may have had an impact on readers.
